The Gary Bennett Family Fund at the Central Okanagan Foundation and its supporters donated $3,000 worth of Loblaw gift cards to the Salvation Army Okanagan Central.
The gift cards can be used towards the purchase of President’s Choice products at Kelowna’s Real Canadian Superstore.
“We are deeply grateful to The Gary Bennett Family Fund and the Real Canadian Superstore” says Captain Jennifer Henson “we recently changed the way we approach our casework, so we know these gift cards will be a blessing for local families in need.”
Using an empowering transformative approach, the Salvation Army restores dignity and hope to those who are struggling. To break cycles of poverty the Salvation Army offers relief grants to help address the underlying factors of food and housing insecurity, providing assistance with grocery and gas gift cards, hygiene items, transportation costs, rental subsidies, utility payments, financial literacy and mental wellness.
“It is not enough to offer transactional programs and services” says Henson.
According to Gary Bennett, “One of our values is to make our community a better place to live. We know the Salvation Army is a good steward of our donations, and their programs and services are something we are proud to be a part of.”
